Lock in Saturday April 1st 2017 as your summer goal, it’s a long event but very achievable with regular training. Past participants have done well if you have good bike fitness for the hilly 98km ride (it’s an amazing course). The paddle and run a relatively flat and not as long time wise, but you still need to do some 2hr sessions for those sports. Make the most of your summer and get out and train! Feel welcome to come join the regular Vigor training in Melbourne and join our training days/weekends on or near the course.
The event starts with a 98km cycle from Mansfield to Eildon, then a 25km paddle from Eildon to Bonnie Doon, and finishes with a 21.1km run from Bonnie Doon back to Mansfield.
The event will go ahead regardless of the water level of Lake Eildon. The starting point is the deepest part of the lake and there is usually at least a little flow of water all the way to Bonnie Doon. It may mean just a little more running but it’s all part of the challenge!
You can tackle the whole challenge solo or do one or two legs as part of a team. When entering everyone enters themselves!
In 2017, the event will start with the first wave at 7am. Presentations will happen behind the Mansfield Visitor Centre (where the event finishes) when the majority of participants have completed the course, we anticipate around 4:30pm. There is no parking allowed in the Mansfield Visitors Centre, you must park behind the Visitors Centre.
After this, everyone is welcome to gather for dinner at the Delatite Hotel in Mansfield where you can recount stories of your day out around the Lake!
